WaterShop Prototype in Bensheim, Germany
In March 2013, Johannes Willms was named Managing Director of the newly established Schoeller Water GmbH in Pullach/Munich, Germany. After almost a year of market research, product development and design the Final Stage WaterShop Prototype was set up in Bensheim, combining a variety of components and systems to offer an innovative product for decentralized water access in developing countries.
Using two material-containers, he managed to establish a prototype that displays all future possibilities the WaterShop creates. At the demonstration site in Bensheim, you are now able to see how the water treatment system works. Particularly exciting to see is the integrated payment system, which was developed in cooperation with one of our technology partners. Furthermore, visitors can see a variety of products such as improved cookstoves and solar lamps which Schoeller Water will make accessible in developing countries.
Sunny River Shop Pilot in Kangemi, Nairobi (Kenya)
After completion of the WaterShop Prototype in Bensheim, it became time to implement it in the target market where the specific needs of the local customers will show if the Sunny River Shop is ready to launch or will need further adaption. At a location still to be announced, Schoeller Water is going to open its first pilot shop in Nairobi, Kenya. This shop will already include all essential parts of the shop, such as the water treatment technology, solar energy supply for mobile charging, and also products such as solar lamps and improved cookstoves. The innovative cashless payment and data management system will show the benefits our product.
After a period of 8-12 weeks of testing, demonstrations and sampling in actual market conditions the pilot shop will be the blueprint for many more Sunny River Shops in the developing countries, creating economic and social benefits through local entrepreneurs by offering decentralized, affordable drinking water and renewable energy solutions.
